Bifurcation of periodic patterns of the compressible Navier- Stokes equations

Abstract: In systems of equations for motion of viscous fluids, solutions often exhibit various interesting spatio-temporal periodic patterns. In this talk, we mainly consider bifurcation of periodic patterns from the plane Poiseuille flow and from the Couette flow in a rotating fluid system. The stability problem is also considered for the bifurcating patterns from the Couette flow when the Mach number is small enough.
